ForestBioFacts grows internationally

ForestBioFacts is getting updates and a test feature. International dimensions are expanding through a network of agents.

A systematic round of updates is about to start in the ForestBioFacts learning environment. “We select four themes to deal with each year, checking that the information is up to date and updating existing content, and if new topics have emerged, we add them to the themes,” says Vera Hallikainen, Development Manager of the Finnish Forest Products Engineers’ Association. The entire learning environment – all 16 themes – are thoroughly reviewed over a four-year period together with experts. Bachelor of Science (Tech.) Mariam Icar’s master’s thesis involves developing a testing feature for everyone to test their own learning in ForestBioFacts. “The test can be added to some of the themes this year. The intention is for the test opportunity to be included in all the themes eventually. This year we’ll also explore how users could harness the potential of AI in the ForestBioFacts learning environment.”

International dimensions

ForestBioFacts already has registered users in dozens of countries around the world. “We’ve marketed our digital learning environment at international events and fairs. We also have a network of representatives operating in various countries which we are about to start actively expanding,” says Hallikainen. “Our agents know their local markets and operators well, and can tell them how ForestBioFacts responds to the challenges of each operating environment.” Currently, the agents are active in the United States, Germany and Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand, and in China. A hunt for suitable agents in Sweden and South America is also underway.
